I'm actually kinda scared to post this . . . I mean, it's not very good, but it looks enough like me for someone to recognize me or whatever . . . 
Anyway . . . my first real attempt at a realistic drawing. I used my school picture as a reference (I will not be posting it, for privacy reasons =_
and it came out pretty good, especially for a first try and the amount of time I spent on it, but it's not great. I spent like half an hour on the mouth and I still can't get it to look right . . . heeeelp. Dx And the shadowing pretty much sucks.
EDIT: Ugh. The two black dots under the eyes are eraser scrap thingies. xP Sorry.

It maybe sounds a bit weird, but my art teacher's favorite trick was making us turn our photos upside down when we drew, so that we had to draw light and shadow instead of using lines.
*shrugs* Just an idea of you want to try it, sometime.
Also! Don't be afraid to use dark-darks! It looks really good now, but a greater variance between the lights and darks would really help it pop.
